Chess demands sustained attention and forward planning. It requires face-to-face engagement and mediates respectful behavior; and its structure is flexible enough to embed subject-specific content while also building socio-emotional capacity.
It is a medium through which every capacity a young person needs can flourish.

After recognizing this some 30 years ago, we have been continually developing and refining our methodology to support traditional education.
Dansk Skoleskak proves that it works. Throughout this process, they’ve brought this methodology to over 500 schools across Denmark. The results are documented and undeniable: students are showing measurable improvements in academic performance, social behavior, and classroom engagement.
The culmination of this effort is the Chess Learning Institute. We exist to bring this methodology outside of Denmark.
We see chess as the ultimate tool that can be adapted to different contexts to help strengthen the communities and spheres most heavily impacted by the accelerated world we live in today.
By partnering with organizations across countries and contexts, we’re working to ensure that every student has access to education that develops them cognitively, emotionally, and socially.
